In December 1977, I received a telegram from two friends traveling in India: “Meet us in Bombay in seven days.” As a life long vegetarian and student of yoga and meditation I was intoxicated by the idea. Carrying 140 rolls of film, and a little Leica camera, I spent five months riding second class trains and traversing India on the cheap. We visited sacred cities and temples, including Venerasi, Puri, Calcutta, Goa and Madras.
