San Francisco was my home for twelve years and the place where I began to photograph in earnest. I was drawn to the shimmering California light and the myriad of neighborhoods ranging from downtown to the nude beaches and the cultural melange of hippies, gays, straights and squares. It was also easy to venture up and down the coast from the Santa Cruz boardwalk to Muscle Beach in LA. (Photo: Markt Street, San Francisco, 1977)
